FAQ

What is the LED?

LED or Light-emitting diode is the semiconductor high-efficiency light source that emits light during the flow of electric current through it. Emitted light lays in a narrow spectral range, its emission colour determines by its radiation wavelength which depends on the chemical composition of the semiconductor material. While the electric current flows in the forward direction, the charge carriers (electrons and holes) recombine with the emission of photons.
The housing may contain a single LED chip (SoC LEDs) or several crystals (multichip LEDs or matrix).
The light output of LEDs reaches the 150-200 lumen per Watt, which is much higher than traditional light sources (incandescent 10-15 lm / W, fluorescent 30-40 lm / W).

What is the reason of replacing the traditional lamp to LED?

  • Less power consumption with equal luminous flux, 10-12 times economical than incandescent lamps, 3-5 times than fluorescent, 2-4 times than HID lamps;
  • Environmental safety and easy disposal (no mercury and ultraviolet radiation);
  • No costs for maintaining of the lamps;
  • Service life increases up to 50,000 hours;
  • Stabilized luminous flux in a wide range of voltages on the network;
  • Colour rendering (75-80 Ra), high contrast ratio provides better clarity of illuminated objects;
  • High efficiency – more than 95%;
  • Wide range of operating temperatures (-60 ... + 40 ° C);
  • Spectral composition of light that close to the sun;
  • Opportunity to control the light, to connect a variety of sensors, the implementation of intelligent lighting;
  • LED lamps give the opportunity to free up the energy capacity and redirect it to the actual needs;
  • There are no high starting currents, which beneficially affect the electrical infrastructure;
  • LED lamps meet the strict modern requirements, ripple is less than 5%, it allows you to create a comfortable light environment at the site;
  • High mechanical strength, vibration resistance;
  • Stability of the respective characteristics throughout the entire period of service;
  • The use of LED lamps can reduce the costs to air-conditioning of facilities.

How much more the efficiency of LED lamps?

LED lamps can save up to 85% of the electricity that is consumed by incandescent lamps and up to 50% of the electricity that is consumed by fluorescent and energy-saving lamps

What is the quality of the LED light?

Colour rendering index (CRI) characterises the ability of the lamp to illuminate the objects so that so that their colours look more natural. The index can be valued between 0 and 100. The higher the value, the more natural the colour of objects are. Colour rendering index of fluorescent lamps is about 72. The colour rendering index of LED light can reach 95.

Are the LED lamps with cold or warm light?

There is the possibility to choose the colour temperature as in the case of fluorescent and energy-saving lamps. Yellow light is similar to incandescent light and corresponds to colour temperature of 2700 K. Neutral white light corresponds to a colour temperature of 5000 K, and light with a bluish shade - to a colour temperature of 6500 K.

How long do the LEDs work?

LED lamps that properly designed and manufactured can operate continuously for 50 000 hours or more. The lifetime of lamps is from 6-7 years with all day long working and 20 years at 5-7 hours operation per day.
Unlike other light sources, LEDs do not burn out. There can be the decreasing of the light brightness of LEDs for 15% after 30 000 hours of operation.

What is the payback period for LED lamps?

The payback time depends on the object on which you want to make the mounting. If the object is in the initial stage of the project, the payback occurs immediately, due to savings on the connected loads. When it is the replacing of existing lighting, the period is from six months to three years, depending on the operating mode, the cost of electricity and the number of lamps.

What is the quality and reliability of the LEDESON lamps?

  • Highly qualified personnel that is engaged in the development, design and assembly of LED products;
  • Testing and conclusions of the lab about quality of incoming components and finished manufactured products;
  • All products are made with modern equipment;
  • High quality LEDs of Nichia, Osram, and LG companies are used;
  • High quality electronic components are used;
  • Power supply units, which have been tested for electromagnetic compatibility;
  • Metal or aluminium housing with a large area for the heat sink;
  • All products meet the strict modern requirements, product quality is confirmed by certificates of conformity.

What is the LED cluster?

LED cluster is a printed circuit board on the basis of aluminium or textolite with installed LEDs. The printed circuit board serves for the electrical connection of LEDs in the product, as well as a primary heat sink. LED clusters are designed for modelling and assembling of lighting devices.

What is the driver?

The driver is a source of DC stabilized current that is designed for supplying of LEDs and LED clusters from the circuit. Drivers are performed as a printed circuit board with the components and can be placed into the housing. It is possible to place the electronic components of the driver directly on the board of the cluster.

How to connect the driver to the LED cluster correctly?

LED cluster is connected to the driver, and the driver is connected to an external AC or DC voltage source. The driver is a stable source of DC power and provides the LEDs working in this mode.

Does it matter which one of the power supplies to use?

Power supply or "driver" is one of the most expensive components of the LED lamp. It determines the durability of the lamp, its effectiveness, stability of the luminous flux and power quality in the network with a large number of simultaneous LED lamps.
Our drivers are specially designed to suit all requirements for LED power supplies and have been tested and certified for electromagnetic compatibility.

How to calculate the heat sink for LEDs, cluster, lamps?

Printed circuit board is a primary heat sink in LED products on which LED is mounted. Power consumption of the LED in the nominal mode is 1W. To remove such thermal power the area of 1 inch is enough.
If the area under the LED board approximately corresponds to a given value, the device does not require additional heat sink during operation of the LED in the nominal mode. Otherwise, additional heat is necessary. The total area of which must be approximately equal to electric power consumed by the device during operation.

What is the lens?

Lens (optics) is an optical device that allows redistributing of the light flux from the light source. There are two types of lenses that used for LEDs: primary optics is a part of the housing; secondary optics is a separate component that mounted on the LED.
